Project Overview

Pride Plumbing NSW completed the plumbing on a main bathroom and ensuite renovation in Illawong, both finished in a classic antique style. The job ran from full strip-out and rough-in through to the final fit-off, taking two dated rooms back to bare brick and rebuilding them from there.

The finished look leans period: claw-foot and slipper baths, pedestal basins, close-coupled toilet suites and traditional gold tapware. It is a different look to most of what gets built today, and getting the old-style fixtures to sit right took careful planning at the rough-in stage.

Scope of Work

Full plumbing for a main bathroom and ensuite renovation in a classic period style, from rough-in to fit-off.

• Strip-out of both existing rooms back to frame
• Hot and cold rough-in for relocated fixtures
• PVC drainage and floor waste set-out
• Claw-foot and slipper bath installation with floor-mounted mixers
• Pedestal basins with traditional three-piece tapware
• Walk-in shower with exposed rail and rain head

Our Approach And Solution

Period fixtures are less forgiving than modern ones. Pedestal basins hide the pipework inside the pedestal, claw-foot baths sit out in the open with floor-mounted tapware, and exposed traditional fittings leave nowhere to hide a rough measurement. So the set-out at rough-in had to be exact, with the wall and floor points landing precisely where each fixture needed them before tiling.

We stripped both rooms back to brick and timber, ran the new hot and cold lines and drainage to suit the reworked layouts, then came back after tiling for the fit-off. The result is a main bathroom and ensuite that carry the classical look right through, with the plumbing set up to suit fixtures that leave everything on show.
